ABSTRACT

The article aims to investigate whether governments tend to implement regulatory policies in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and to examine the type of citizen response to different types of policies. Given that active and collaborative citizen participation is an essential element of adequate crisis management, citizen resistance, active opposition, and demonstrations in public spaces are detrimental to the successful outcome of government policies in the face of a crisis. We employ the crisis management and institutional analyses theoretical perspectives, as well as the qualitative methods of study case and the comparative studies. We review the different types of policies implemented in different countries. Our analysis shows that there is indeed a tendency for implementing regulatory policies. It also identifies that the places where regulative policies are created and implemented without taking into account contextual aspects, it usually catalyzes citizen's discomfort. Therefore, we argue that the type of policy used is relevant to deciding what governments' responses should be and their effect on legitimacy during crises.

ABSTRACT

The food cold chain is an effective tool that allows food markets to maintain food quality and reduce losses. Poor logistics may result in foodborne disease outbreaks and greenhouse gas emissions caused by organic matter decay. The ongoing pandemic of COVID-19 makes it necessary to study the chances of SARS-CoV-2 transmissions in food products. This study reviews cold chain logistics as a handy tool for avoiding food safety risks, including COVID-19. The cold chain of perishables and its proper management make it possible to maintain quality and safety at any stage of the food supply chain. The technology covers each link of the food chain to prevent microbial spoilage caused by temperature fluctuations and the contamination with SARS-CoV-2 associated with perishable foods. Given the lack of knowledge in this field in Latin America, the region needs new research to determine the impact of the cold chain on perishable foodstuffs. The perishable cold chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and the national and international markets require new traceability protocols to minimize the effect of COVID-19. © 2023, Arriaga-Lorenzo et al

ABSTRACT

Introduction/Objective: To establish the level of adherence of a group of Colombian trans women to SARS-CoV-2 prevention measures. Method: Single-stage descriptive correlational cross-sectional design. An anonymous online questionnaire was administered to 100 Colombian trans women. The results were obtained using both frequentist and bayesian (a priori-a posteriori) statistical methods. Results: About three-quarters of the participating women reported a high level of adherence to preventive behaviors. Associated factors were feeling able to implement the preventive actions and believing in their effectiveness, to avoid infecting others, conflicts with others, and avoiding legal problems. Conclusions: Self-efficacy and rule-governed behaviors are related to adherence to prevention measures. Addressing adherence in times of COVID-19 implies comprehensively incorporating the magnitude of social inequities and injustices and the health responses to a situation that affects humanity in a diverse and differentiated manner. ABSTRACT

In mature tourist destinations for several years the need has been raised to reconvert the tourism. The current crisis caused by Covid-19 has further highlighted this need, which must be oriented towards innovation, sustainability and accessibility both in destination as the tourist products. In this sense, the objective of this work is to propose an urban geotourism itinerary with a geographical theme through Santiago del Teide, in Canary, Spain linked to volcanoes. This type of products are relatively new and touristically exploit the relief present as in cities as natural outcrops and in cultural heritage. For the proposed itinerary, twelve places were selected that host the relationship between society and the volcano through their natural and cultural heritage. This urban geotourism proposal can contribute to diversify the municipal tourist offer, polarized in the tourism of sun and beaches on the coast and on the route of the almond trees in the midlands.

ABSTRACT

The objectives of this study are to suggest a specific taxonomy for the attitude markers used in Twitter after government decrees about coronavirus and to investigate if attitude markers indicate that power distance is accepted in Spain and if government decisions are respected. Finally, we study semantic webs in attitude markers. The corpus compiled for this study is composed by the tweets to the decrees of the Ministry of Health and Public Health from 12th to 16th March 2020. We analysed the data with the tools METOOL and GePhi. In the results it was observed that Spanish citizens preferred a closer relationship with power and it was noticed an increase in aggressive language. Finally, conclusions were drawn.
